The Human Interleukin 8 (IL-8) ELISA Kit is engineered for accurate measurement of IL-8 levels from samples including serum, cell culture supernates, saliva, urine, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), tissue homogenates, and cell lysates. It uses the Sandwich-ELISA mechanism in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to measure the IL-8 content in the sample. IL-8, also known as CXCL8, is a multi-functional pro-inflammatory chemokine. It exerts its biological effects by binding to the receptors CXCR1/IL-8R-A and CXCR2, eliciting a wide range of signaling pathways including the PI3K-Akt pathways. Studies showed that IL-8 could contribute to host defense but also to inflammatory diseases and neutrophil-mediated tissue damage. IL-8 has angiogenic activity on endothelial cells as well.
